Don't leave your stuff unattended 8 or more hours before the parade. This isn't really asking much of people.

This.
I don't care much either way. Just use a little common sense people.

Also wouldn't want the city doing this every day and wasting a lot of resources on it. Just once or twice during this week.

Common sense says this isn't an issue and is a waste of time and resources for a city with much much much better things to do.

Why have the rule to not enforce it all the time? That's retarded.

Why don't they do this for bum encampments?

That wouldn't be a bad idea either.

It kind of looks like things have gotten better in the last few months with not as much trash being piled up everywhere near the hobo villages.

I've always been able to do this without staking a claim to a large spot of city owned real estate for a week.

I don't get why it's so hard for others.

What does it take to get a trash krewe to pick up any other week of the year?

I get the 4 hour rule. Unless it is blocking a trolley then let it go.

Yes, last night there were some blocking the tracks.

They do a pass with a couple of garbage trucks and a handful of guys picking stuff up. Some people make it sound like the city is shutting down to do this.

Last year, when they did this, unannounced it was different and they wouldn't let people get their ladders or other items even if they weren't in the garbage truck. You shouldn't have unattended stuff out at 8am for a 6pm parade on Wednesday.

Right, the people you met up with did it instead.

I don't get why it's so hard for people to care. Tell me what the difference between setting up this morning and setting up at 2PM is. The same people that are committed enough top do it in the morning will be the ones doing it at 2PM. Nothing will be different other than wasting people's time and the city's already sparse resources.

The same people who do this are the people who put their stuff out on the beach early in the morning then don’t show up until 1 pm and act all indignant that it got moved a little to the second row.

Nah.

I do share rent in an apt. on the route, though. I don't even go there the whole time.

Setting up does not mean laying down two ladders and tent frame and then leaving only to come back at 4.

Sound like you agree this is not really an issue which is my point.

And to the degree it is an issue (again, it's not) it should be item 10.001 on the list of issues the city needs to be worried about.

Because once word gets out that their is a real chance the city will come do a sweep, people might give up on the idea that they can't just set their crap out there for four or five days in a row.

I'm not going to get into this pissing match, especially with you.

Sure it does. That's perfectly acceptable under the current rules. So now instead of deflecting, tell me how it's different.

Spoiler alert, it isn't. This is a waste of time.

They won't because it won't get moved again.

This is one of the few times I'll side with NOLA government. Its not hard at all to find a decent spot to setup your ladders and tents if you get out there more than an hour ahead of the parade time...especially for the weekday parades. You're just mad that you can't leave your shite out on the parade route all week so you can reserve a spot and stroll up right as the parade starts then get mad because people who were out there an hour before you showed up are standing in front of yall.

Plus its a safety issue leaving all that stuff out unattended all week because if bad weather comes through with some gusty wind, those tents are going to get blown over into the streets, knock over the ladders, and possibly end up damaging people's cars

Personal insult when you can't actually make a real response is a surefire way to let me know your opinion is valuable.
