Like legit 32 oz? Do you not realize that's 400 mg of caffeine all in your system at once? That's the daily recommended limit and twice the recommended dose. Now add sodas, tea, and chocolates that you probably also consume.

I can absolutely guarantee this is a driving factor behind your panic attack.

Caffeine can play a part for people but, at a point, you reach tolerance and massive amounts don’t have much of an effect on you.

Withdrawal at that point is a bitch, though.

Pathetic. No wonder you thought you were having a heart attack. Get it together baw.

Won't find an argument from me on this point. I definitely need to make some lifestyle changes.

I hate to break it to you but they are going to get worse now that you know what one feels like. You will start to get anxious then worry about a panic attack coming, then actually cause one. You need to change up your habits today.

Went through the same thing several years back. Was drinking a ton of coffee, not exercising, and a generally not great diet. Cardio seems to be the best thing you can do to combat it. After that, eat fewer carbs as those seem to expand in your stomach and put pressure on your diaphragm at times. Try to cut back on coffee.

I was giving him shite. I know exactly what it feels like. I was healthy as frick when it happened to me(running 20 miles/week). Turned out to be that afternoon cup of coffee and my long commute(stress) after work were a bad combo. When it happens while driving 65mph, you'll really shite a brick.

I drink 5 cups a day. I can confirm tho that too much caffeine can cause a panic attack. Especially with little sleep the night before.

As for the marijuana... If you recently stopped then don't panic the side effects/withdrawals will go away after 2 weeks typically.

If you just started smoking weed. Try less and or different strains.

Yes, I usually drink on it all morning starting from 0700 to 1200. Guess I'll try to ween off a bit. I love my coffee though, this will be tough.

Don’t feel bad. I’m an ER doc and we take care of a lot of people who come to the ER with anxiety. People who don’t know better can feel the chest pain and difficulty breathing and legitimately think they are dying. I’ve has a panic attack before and even knowing what it was it was a scary and uncomfortable experience. After the normal workup they go home and follow up with their doctor but I usually suggest therapy/discussing their anxiety with their primary care doc.

Refreshing to see someone accept responsibility. Not enough people do that these days. That’s the first step. You are on your way to health.

Cold water on the back of your neck. Stop consuming caffeine and get exercise.

Long story short, hospital confirmed it was not a heart attack and said it must've been a panic attack. I've had issues with anxiety all my life, but never have had anything like this happen to me. I'm 37 years old. Anybody ever have an emergency room run due to a panic attack? Honestly it's pretty embarrassing, and I'm not sure what to do next. My wife seems to think it was a seizure, but I'm leaning more towards panic attack.

I ended up in a similar situation a few years ago. I started having panic attacks out of nowhere after no history of medical issues or anxiety. I got diagnosed with general anxiety disorder, started taking buspirone, and went to some therapy to help learn how to cope with the symptoms. My doctor and therapist both assured me that sometimes there is no real trigger and anxiety can just start out of nowhere one day. When you've never had a panic attack before, it's terrifying when you think it's heart issues or some other cause.

It may seem obvious, but deep controlled breathing and focused meditation is one of the best deterrents when you feel the symptoms coming on. Obviously the medicine helps too.

Sometimes it is genetic, sometimes it is environmental, sometimes shite happens, all of its sucks.

It being genetic is a particular bitch IMHO, because you have the genes for it and, if raised by your biological parents, they are likely suffering from it and causing you to experience it environmentally too.

I deal with moderate anxiety and have had panic attacks. Never went to the emergency room for them, though.

I don’t take medicine for anxiety, but I’m not your doctor, either.

There are lifestyle changes that can help stomp out a lot of anxiety.

Regular exercise is just as good for mental health for me as it is physical health.
Try lifting weights if you can. Calisthenics are great if you can’t make it to the gym. You can do great and effective body weight exercises with very minimal equipment.

Try easing up on the caffeine and alcohol.

Breath. Focus on taking deep breaths and long exhales throughout the day.

I'm claustrophobic, I could envision a panic attack under that circumstance, I had to go through some training years ago to where I was tied up, wrist to ankles and a rope around my neck and knees, then placed into a sort of coffin like box for a few hours, the "captors' would rotate the position of the box every so often, upside down, on each side, etc., I knew it was a mental test and I had to gut it out but that was the closest I ever felt like a panic attack
