quote:shocking to me is that the full grown very old daughters were either really careless by posting pictures online of the stolen property or that they were never aware of the origins of the painting, which id find hard to believe.
That wasn't really the point. The irony is that the Dutch have been trying to get in this guy's house for years, then easily see it on a Zillow type listing.
The Dutch investigators already knew it was in the house.

Yeah, but I bought it at a storage unit auction for $158. I didn't really want it, but they had an ATV I could see the handlebars of in the back of the unit.
I hung the painting over the couch as a joke, calling it "Dude in a Gold Dress".I wonder how much they're willing to pay for it.

You missed my point. Read the start of the text quoted where it says the painting turned up in a surprising place. There should have been nothing surprising about it. Not to mention, that is exactly where they were looking for the painting. How is that surprising?

This story no more surprising than a car that is fortuitously pulled over on I-10 at the Louisiana line because of a “malfunctioning” tail light and is found to be transporting illicit contraband.

Do people still not know that many Nazis fled to Argentina?
Evidently, there’s at the very least 18.
Here’s the 2nd largest Oktoberfest in the world…

Obligatory, if you zoom in on that painting, that’s a man, baby gif.
