We repainted over the shitty paint in our house. Thought Valspar sucked. love the behr ultra from home depot.

I had very good results with the Ace hardware house brand, Clark and Kensington, when I painted my house last year. Of course, that was exterior paint but it went on very nicely with good coverage. I would expect the same from the interior paint.

I have been a painter for 45 years owned my painting business for 35 years. I have used sherwin Williams and behr paint. Benjamin Moore is a much better product throughout their line than any other paint in the industry. Regardless of what u may hear or read Moore's is much better. It will cover in 2 coats and wash better. I am on Benjamin Moore's contractor advisory board and tested aura before it was on the market.

Interior Behr eggshell is really good stuff. It lasts forever.

I just painted interior of my new house with the top end Behr from home depot. It was a bad decision. Terrible coverage. Some rooms took several coats.

I own a commercial and residential paint company, I only recommend sherwin williams, I've used almost all other brands and I have to charge more on labor when using other brands, cause of coverage and I know SW will back up their product if something were to happen, this does not include their hgtv products

Valspar was better than Behr. We did most of our house with Valspar and the guest bathroom in Behr. The coverage in that guest bathroom was terrible. I think the Behr paint is watered down or something.

Our deck was finished with Sherwin Williams stain. That shite is awesome. I would seriously consider Sherwin Williams products if you can.

We are in the process of painting ceilings, walls, crown molding, baseboards and doors of our house. Using Benjamin Moore brand called Advance. It is expensive at $55 a gallon but we got it for about $44 using a contractor's discount. It looks great.

BM is best hands down, but as others have indicated - it is pricey. The high end Valspar, Behr, and even Glidden (box store brands) can give you good finish and coverage if you use quality rollers/brushes (Purdy or Wooster IMHO) and prep properly.
Many factors to consider regarding coverage (smoker in house, dirty walls, light over dark color change, etc).
Clean the walls even if it doesn't look like they need it.
Don't be afraid to use frog tape or an edge guard if you can't cut-in well. Have fun.

Yeah we painted our entire house interior last year. Did it 10 years ago with Behr. It took two SOLID coats. Used BM for most, and SW on a room or two, this time around. Still used two coats (always looks nicer) but could have gotten away with one coat with the rooms we used the BM. It covered so much better than Behr and still noticeably better than the SW.

ETA Behr has likely made improvements to their formulations in the past 10 years.

There is a definite better coverage and quality of Sherwin Williams etc over the box store brands. For most people it's not going to matter though.

Also, 60 years from now you can go to Sherwin Williams and ask them for whatever color you had in your house in 2017. No guarantees with Lowe's.

I used Valspar signature from Lowe's last weekend and it was great. Got to return a lot of it because it covered way more than they said it would.

So you were painting with an untinted base white??? fricking gross...

Behr marquee...it's one coat and done on most things. It is pricey but definitely worth it.

I've had two trees hit my house and do considerable damage In the last 8 years. I bring that up because the contractors both times used Benjamin Moore paint. I have all the cans and codes. Plus I get a discount for the paint by using their account.

Anyway, I can definitely tell a difference. And the price is only about $8 difference per gallon from the standard Lowe's and HD paint.

So the question is: How much is your time worth? Because it completely covers in 1 coat.

I spend several thousand dollars a year on paint. Ben moore is the best line of paint period. SW is pretty good but it ain't Ben moore

I've found the pure performance ppg for interior has been fricking awesome. Last room I didn't put down floor protection and had one drip which cleaned up easily. It covers great. Walls are easy to clean with my 3 little kids running around.

Exterior I went with Timeless by ppg and my exterior looks great 6 years later.
