The disturbance is now Invest 97L and at 50%. 950 AM EDT Thu Oct 24 2019 For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico: Early morning visible satellite images indicate that the circulation of the low pressure area in the Bay of Campeche has become a little better defined. The associated showers and thunderstorms continue to show signs of organization, and this system could become a short-lived tropical depression before it merges with a cold front by late Friday. * Formation chance through 48 hours...medium...50 percent. * Formation chance through 5 days...medium...50 percent.

I'm sure there have been many but I can't recall a named storm hitting SELA in late October/early November

Juan is the only one I can think of. Chances are this will only be a depression and it may even be extra tropical since it's going to merge with the front. But who knows? Either way, lots of rain.

Wont the front basically tear it apart?

Hurricane Juan 1985 checking in.

I can remember this because. I almost had to go trick or treating in a pirogue.

Juan came in and got us twice in the mid80’s. We went fishing between the rains and loaded up. Love that low pressure, storm surge.

SEC should change game to 8:00pm for tropical storm safety or something.

Yeah, it terms of being a tropical system. Any organization will quickly get ripped apart by the larger feature coming in. Typical late October.

The moisture it picks up will get pulled north into a weak surface low that will be developing over the weekend. Bring most of south Louisiana 2-4" of rain.
