I have a couple of Davis watches. Feel great, hold up really well too.

Right now I'm going with this Stuhrling chrono after replacing the band with a Nato.

Second Stuhrling after you suggested a different one. I wanted a chrono this time (I actually use it every once in a while). Really like the brand, but boy can they screw up a band. But with some ebay nato's, they are good to go.

But personally I would look at a classic aviator dress watch like the B-Uhr. Change the strap on this one and it's $79

Where would one find that B-Uhr for $79?

That NATO looks nice and thick, which usually means they're comfortable. I've been buying them with black hardware since it's hard to find them to match the case finish. Looks like that one does well with yours.

Do you know of any budget manual winding pilots?

They all manual wind at first

But no I can't think of any off the top of my head.

Well hell, I guess I didn't put much effort into that.

Yes, very comfortable. I'll have a problem going back to anything but nato's now.

I bought a 20mm nato for a larger Davis watch with black hardware a couple of weeks ago, definitely a different feel with that large of a strap. Has the large round buckles too, still not too sure how much I like it.

That's the best kind. The ones with the thin flat keepers suck. They are lightweight and made crappy. With that said, I do own about 6 of those.

That one a ZULU?

Found a $219 6498 on eBay, but it's got a few funky details...and it's 46mm ugh.

Clean looking watch. I'm still not a fan of NATO straps

I love them. They are easy to clean, offer some safety to your watch and can be dressy or casual depending on color combos.

You like Zulu?

It's functionality. Blow out a springbar...don't lose your watch.

Semantics. I always have rubber (or whatever iteration) straps on my active watches, and have had leather/fake gator or metal bands on nicer watches

If you are really active then a NATO is just what you need. It does offer safety. Something to think about.
