Was visiting a family member & friends graveside last week...asked the lady if there were any famous people buried here and she said some guy she'd never personally heard of...."Barry something".
Said Tom Cruise is playing him in an upcoming movie and I instantly knew who it was.
Dude had an interesting life, for sure.

I may have heard this from someone close to the story. Older half sister didn't want anything to do with the movie or did anything to stop the sale OVER a YEAR AGO. Now she wants a piece of the $350k.
I may have heard that she was not told about the movie deal, found out later and when she asked a sibling, the sibling made no mention of the $350k but who really knows right?
There's always two sides to every story. Let the lawyers rape them all for 80% I always say.

Have you ever seen their old property off of Hoo Shoo Too? The driveway of the current house supposedly used to be an airstrip. Not sure if that's true, but it sure as hell looks like an old airstrip and someone close to the family told me about that when we passed it a few years ago.

Doublecrossed was pretty good. You can watch on YouTube. Dennis Hopper as Barry Seal. It's interesting that Mena won't be released until just after the next presidential election. Anxious to see their take on this. Barry was no drunk though.

Yep. Few threads have mentioned it here if you google Barry Seal + tigerdroppings.
I would like to add, Narcos on Netflix covers him briefly but glosses over his story. They also lie about how he was murdered. Said he REFUSED protection like an arrogant idiot would do.

Didn't he use one off of Summerfield road (down river from Fred's) as well? Those two strips are very close.

No, but I'll make it a point to check it out.

You can't miss it. It's a good ways down on the right. The 'driveway' looks just like an old runway.

Pretty sure, once you're convicted of a felony you give up the rights to your life story. I would imagine this holds true to your estate's rights to it as well

I have no idea. Like I said there are some posters here with a TON of good info on his operations back in the day. Just find threads from last 3-5 years on here.
I just know that airstrip on Hoo Shoo Too. Some smart nerdy engineer owns it and it has it's own airport code. Well his widow owns it now.
Obit for Louis Capozzoli

Depends..if thus is based off a book...a specific telling of this life story then whoever owns the book rights would be due $$$.
If someone is a historical person you can make a movie about them.

A Son of Sam law is any law designed to keep criminals from profiting from the publicity of their crimes, often by selling their stories to publishers. While the term is most often used in the United States, it is also sometimes applied to laws passed with similar provisions in other nations.
quote:
In certain cases a Son of Sam law can be extended beyond the criminals themselves to include friends, neighbors, and family members of the lawbreaker who seek to profit by telling publishers and filmmakers of their relation to the criminal. In other cases, a person may not financially benefit from the sale of a story or any other mementos pertaining to the crime.
You mad you can't profit off your crimes baw?

Yeah, there has been plenty of movies about convicted felons. I'm sure those families received something. I wonder if Billy the Kids family got money for Young Guns? Does he even have a family? Hmmmm

Son of Sam laws are a little different. Sure we don't want DTL profiting from selling his tell-all book. But .... that fricker would sell a million copies if he ever did spill his rotten guts. And in this case, I think "selling the rights" is more along lines of giving the okay to do it and promising not to sue for anything later.
