Was the P-40, with six 50 caliber machine guns, the original WartHog!

My dumbass brain locked into thinking that read p90 and I was like ain't no way the p90 is 80+ years old lol

That footage has a bizarre feeling to it, seeing something from the past live and firing and flying around in high def color. Awesome clip.

Must be a late model version of the P-40 to have 6 wing guns and not the .30 that shot through the propeller.

I would say the P47 was. 8 50cals plus bombs/rockets for ground attack. And could take a ton of damage and make it home.

I am reading God is my Co-pilot right now... Col Scott Just got his P40 and he is protecting cargo planes and strafing ground troops.

Fantastic book...

Early P40's had two fifties in the nose and four thirties, 2 in each wing.

Good catch. I remembered it being vice versa. Must be a different plane I'm thinking of.

Had a Client who flew. P-51. He wrote a book which he signed. He had his name plate from his Plane.

Nope. Always the P-47. Took until the E version to get six .50 cals. P-47 always had eight and built to take damage.

It's a P-40n-1, in the livery of the 23rd fighter group. Detailed as Gregory Boyingtons aircraft.

Furthe Col Scott said... When he test fired the guns for the first time that it actually slowed the speed of the ship with the recoil. Also sometimes one side of the guns would misfire and it would almost turn the ship.

I) meant to post what he said about the beginning of the War when he was back home in the USA with his family. It was about how great this Nation was and it was up to him and others to keep it that way for his family and others.

Total difference from some people today.
