Abdullah Muflahi, the owner of the convenience store where Alton Sterling was shot to death, is suing the city of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and its police department.
According to the suit, Muflahi accuses authorities of illegally taking him into custody and confiscating his entire security system without a warrant.
When asked about the lawsuit by CNN, Cpl. L'Jean McKneely said police would not comment on pending litigation, as is standard procedure.

Just keeping his store from being burnt down, and increasing his revenue

He's trying to squash the evidence of drug dealing and SNAP fraud he knows the police will find when the sift through his store and security system. That's all this is about.

This guy seems a little too anxious to be Mr. Helper...almost like he is trying his best to keep his place from being torched by the mob...

It casts him in a good light in one community and a bad light in another. Guess which one he caters to?

He probably had the whole business funded by the government to begin with, now he takes advantage of our litigious society to try and cash in more.
MURICA!

That's going to have a negative effect on his synthetic marijuana sales. THATS WHY he wants those cameras and video back so bad!!

The entire basis of the lawsuit is that he was not allowed to go back into his store and that the BRPD took the equipment without a warrant.
1) It was part of a crime scene.
2) They got the warrant at 5:30 AM. Which explains why it took so long before he was allowed back in.
3) He was never arrested. Just detained for questioning as a witness.
Everything about his situation was typical.

Absolutely..
The very first interview he did to local news the first day after, before it hit the national press he stated.
"This could have been handled better by BOTH parties"
I think after that he realized the shite was going to hit the fan and if wanted anything other than a pile of ashes he better side with you know who.

I'm trying to RA this thread but I can't find the choice for "OP is a worthless sack of shite". Didn't that used to be an option?

He is on a seesaw with BRPD on one side and the community on the other. He better balance it right on both ends. If he hits the ground flat which eventually he will which side will he face?

Given the fact that Chicken has posted in the thread, methinks your efforts are futile.

Agreed

Im curious why they would need a warrant to hand over the security footage. Surely this owner wants to help the entire situation out and serve justice, right?
Seems like anyone without anything to hide would just hand over the footage no questions asked. Do the police normally need a warrant in this type of situation?

Not the same store. 1526 N Foster vs 2112 N Foster. Throw a rock from one to the other but not the same.
