You have to be pretty stupid to paddle a student in this crazy environment. That shite just doesn’t fly anymore.
But it did with the parent, even a 3rd lick. Did her tune change after the kid whined enough at home (my assumption)?

And we wonder why these kids are so out of control! Mom's going to regret her actions when her daughter ends up locked up because she's so out of control.
A good paddling should leave a couple of bruises as a reminder that the next time it will be worse!
This sole incident is a reflection of what is happening in our public schools. Students can disrespect, assault, cuss and even throw things at teachers and nothing happens to them. The first time a student gets their arse tore up for being stupid, this is the outcome!

And it was done on Aug. 14th, basically the first day/week of school. I mean, pace yourself girl!

If the girl had the option of paddle or ISS, wouldn’t Overton ISD have policies in place that allow paddling. Seems like school board members should also be liable along with the board’s general counsel if such policies were approved by the board.

What does everyone think about this? It was consensual with the parent which would avoid the student having to attend ISS (in school suspension).
Has been me.
Who do I call to get paid?

Nothing more than a scam to try and get some money

Sometimes educators consider themselves above the law, decency and common sense. Just look at the fiasco with the webcams being used to spy on students.
And that’s a situation where they caught. Many more probably happen everyday.

Preach! I went to small Texas HS in the 90’s. ANY infraction that got you sent to the office resulted in 3 days ISS or “3 for 3”(three licks everyday from a former Miami Dolphins TE for 3 days straight). He would light your arse up! The girls got the same treatment. My senior year I got my arse lit up 3 different times for chewing gum in class, skipped one class and coming to school without being clean shaven. Rarely was anyone disrespectful to a teacher because Momma wasn’t coming to threaten admin. Hell I was praying they DIDN’T call my parents.

In Texas, corporal punishment in public schools is considered lawful unless a parent or legal guardian has refused to give permission with a signed, written statement to the school board.
I've a feeling a DA or county judge will quickly rule no law was broken. Mother gave permission to principal and was a witness.

I have no sympathy. I got my arse beat on numerous occasions in school. Thrice (yeah....I said thrice) in one day once.

You don't think the principal would've gone through with this without the mother agreeing and witnessing in person, do you? Seemed like he was going to stop after the 2nd lick if they said they didn't want the 3rd (to me at least)

Man, this principal is an idiot.
Also, I couldn’t imagine giving a fricking random stranger permission to assault my child.

I was once paddled so hard that the welts bled.
My Mama wanted to complain to the school but I wouldn’t let her because that would have been, well, pussified.
That was almost 50 years ago in SWLA. Guess things were different then but I honestly think I’m better for it…

Good thing these stupid laws weren’t around when Mr Ferguson was principal at Waskom HS.
He’d still be in jail.
He’d still be in jail.

Educators don't think they're above the law. You clearly don't know many educators and clearly you've never been a teacher. It's people like you that make teaching so difficult because instead of working with the teacher or teachers to correct the problem with your child, you blame the teacher. Maybe if you were a better parent, teachers wouldn't have a problem your child. In the end, you will suffer the consequences when your child gets locked up or is strung out on drugs because he/she was never given any type of direction in life!

Or Mr. Barr at Stonewall HS

Read earlier this was all about the kid throwing a huge fit over her phone being taken up. And the mom signed a consent form prior to the princess getting that arse warmed up.

This whole concept of a principal beating a child with a wooden board is so bizarre to me, I can't even process it. 2023.

I support the principal. Probably the first time the girl was ever properly disciplined in her life.
