What is your opinion about this?

Under the new policy, students with more than $25 in their accounts are given an alternative lunch. The school notified families about the change at the end of last year but only recently began to enforce it.

The school district has apologized for offending anyone with the new policy, but in a statement defended the need for the new rule, pointing out that 499 students carry debts on their lunch accounts. Only about 10 percent of those accounts are from low-income families, who qualify for free or reduced-price lunches.

Pretty sure a lot of schools have similar policies in place, but they don't really use them because it's easier to just give the kid a regular meal than to make a separate dish

Cheese sandwiches are gross. The prospect of having a child eat a cafeteria cheese sandwich would be motivation enough to pay off a balance.

Parents should pay the fricking bill so their kid can eat. I don't necessarily like that the kid gets the shite end of the stick if they don't though.

School is not a social program or a charity. Pay the lunch bill. If you are too lazy to get a job or not responsible enough to cover it, they're still not going to starve. Get over it.

Back when I was in grade school in the 80s and 90s, if we didn't pay for lunch we didn't get anything.

So they are starving disadvantaged kids that are lactose intolerant or allergic to gluten? Not so funny now is it.

They did this when I was in high school. They should at least grill it(our school did), hell that would probably be better than most of the shite they serve.

Our lunch lady would typically remind me if I was getting too far in the hole, but for whatever reason she didn't tell me I was like $20 behind one time. We had a substitute lunch lady running the computer and she literally screamed at me. It was embarrassing.

Grilled cheese isn't bad. Cold cheese on untoasted bread, no way I'm eating that.

If you owe $25 or more on your lunch account, this is what Kokomo High School provides you for lunch. Two slices of bread and two slices of cheese. Absolutely mortifying. My heart goes out to the kids that I go to school with that get their only meal a day at school.

Well, pay off your fricking debt and you don't have to worry about it, dumbass.

And way to fit your iPhone in the shot too which make me wonder how you're taking the snapchat pic. 2 fricking iPhones, but can't pay off a $25 debt for lunch. frick these kids. I hope that school feeds them shite sandwiches.

Well unless you're a lazy arse. Then you can everyone else to pay your bill including for your child's free school lunch. Hell they will do this even when school is not in session.
