I'm not a hunter. I just don't get why you'd kill something you're going to eat when meat is plentiful in a grocery store. See how that works?

Good for her.

ETA - you're right about how smart I am, but you don't know shite about my emotions.
I've never done [insert activity]

But there is absolutely zero skill or sport involved. I know this for a fact.

That is fine, but the methods used are likely the exact same as that used for all hunting.

How is it different than shooting a deer from a stand?

Likely would be the exact same process.

This. And if you post around about it, you get what you deserve.

I'm sure you think that's how deer hunting works as well because you saw deer eating out of someone's hand in the subdivision

, I'm aware of how deer hunting works.

If you think these was any chance she wasn't going to bag a giraffe on that hunt, you're a fool.

giraffe hunting video in Africa. So sporty.

Yeah, popping a giraffe is probably the easiest kill on the planet. How could you miss and it is not like that animal is going to be able to go hide very easy?

Honestly, I would love to do an African safari some day, but there is a fine line on animals I would like to take. I have no desire to shoot anything that would not be able to be eaten by the locals which pretty much just leaves plains game antelope and the Cape Buffalo for me. I would have a hard time pulling the trigger on an elephant, rhino, hippo, or any of the cats even if all of them were cleared to be shot for management purposes.

These hunts are typically used to get rid of a single animal that is a nuisance.

So black giraffes are a "nuisance" now? NAABG will be all over this.

Uh-oh. OP in the shame post is going to get got by the cyber-BLM-police. African culture is beautiful and vibrant, every part of it.

Except the part where safari hunts help raise money to preserve national wildlife parks, apparently. Also, yes may she take a giant giraffe dick if it were actually endangered and she knew it. Otherwise, GTFO.

For starters, they're far more suspect. You don't drive up to them in a field with 2 other guys and a couple of lap dogs and take one down.

Probably, but we've seen guys miss a lion and get charged and shite.

Look, I don't want this woman's life ruined or anything, but I find this particular action pathetic.

She paid to bag this specific giraffe.

Of course she was going to bag this one.

I posted a video. It's comical how it's done.

In your mind. It is better for multiple younger giraffes to die at the hands of this old bull than it is for the old bull to die at the hands of a human

Right?

Well, there are a lot of assholes in the world, true. Maybe the response is disproportionate, I don't know. I just know the photo of this person grinning over the body of a majestic animal like she had done something great is nauseating.

I'm a big time hunter... but this just gives us a bad name. You don't kill something for sport IMO... if you kill it, you better fricking eat it.

That video is almost exactly how I have killed deer. I go to the area where we believe they may be because of tracks, scrapes, etc then I wait in hopes of one coming along. How is that any different than what they just did?

Right

I get the whole process. Wildlife management is going to be done regardless, so why not let some wealthy foreigner pay us a ton of money to pull the trigger rather than a park ranger.

I don't feel sorry for the animal or anything, but paying money to shoot fish in a barrel seems pathetic to me. Obviously you feel differently, which is fine.

well it was.

all of these hunts in africa raise money for the conservation of the animals. they go out to the group and let the hunter who have paid, sometimes hundreds of thousands of dollars, to shoot the oldest one who is about to keel over.
