Now you're just being ridiculous.

ETA: Also, some people may eat that raccoon...lol.

That's exactly what you said.

What about this particular giraffe was "trophy?"

I don't know how many times I've posted this, but I'll do it again because I feel it's my duty as a hunter.

First off, any animal killed in S Africa is eaten. The locals consider meat to be a delicacy and don't get it often. Once an animal is killed, the word spreads back to the local village and within hours everyone is preparing to have a party. And I mean a PARTY!

Fires, dancing, singing, feasting. It's one of the most moving spectacles I've ever observed. Children playing, people laughing, old people telling stories of hunts past. A ritual that has transpired since the birth of man, one that doesn't give one shite about you, your thoughts about killing or your styrofoam culture.

You sit, on the other side of the world and suddenly consider yourself to be all knowing, to hold the higher moral ground. Screw you. You have no idea what it's like living in those areas where meat is considered a delicacy.

And those white hunters, who spent thousands of dollars to travel to Cradle of Man to experience hunting.....they love them. The adore them and they thank them over and over and over for the harvest of the animal.

One thing most of you don't realize is that these animals are not free ranging. The vast majority of "hunts" in S Africa take place behind a high fence. The fences erected in order to save the animals from poachers who would have long ago slaughtered them without the boundaries.

There are so many things that I could add to this, things that most of you don't know and have no desire to know. I don't have a problem with anyone taking an anti hunting stance. I can't stand ignorance of the subject though. Learn about the process.

How does one “hunt” a giraffe? Seems like you’d just walk up and shoot it.

You know what I meant. I've said it in this thread already. If you target a specific animal for specific features, it's a trophy. Doesn't matter if it's antlers, or just the personal satisifaction of taking that animal.

Shooting a raccoon because it's eating your corn isn't the same. Unless you've got 5 of them eating it and you target one specifically because he's a fat boy. Lol!

Different guy then... although the family friend of mine fits the rest of that criteria. He's in the ballpark of 70 and has been with Exxon that long.

And he's worth a shite-ton and loves to trophy hunt.

He may be using some updated data.

quote:

A 2011 study using detailed analyses of the morphology of giraffes, and application of the phylogenetic species concept, described eight species of living giraffes.[27] The eight species are: G. angolensis, G.antiquorum, G. camelopardalis, G. giraffa, G. peralta, G. reticulata, G. thornicrofti, and G. tippelskirchi. A 2016 study also concluded that living giraffes consist of multiple species.[28] The researchers suggested the existence of four species, which have not exchanged genetic information between each other for 1 million to 2 million years. Those four species are the northern giraffe (G. camelopardalis), southern giraffe (G. giraffa), reticulated giraffe (G. reticulata), and Masai giraffe (G. tippelskirchi).[28] Since then, a response to this publication has been published, highlighting seven problems in data interpretation, and concludes "the conclusions should not be accepted unconditionally".[29

See I think you're confusing this with a hot chick and having a "trophy wife" bc you target her for her nice arse and juicy tits.

No it's because of poaching. Paid controlled hunts like hers keep an incentive to conserve the animals due to economic value

I'm MAGA as frick, but I think this is stupid. Why hunt exotic animals like this? Not a fan of it at all.

I don't know what you guys consider to be a trophy hunt, but I think the way I've described it is pretty accurate. You shoot a 200 class buck because he's a 200 class buck. You may or may not take the meat. It's not automatically assumed that you aren't keeping the meat.

Ever think that they aren't "exotic" to the people who live there and who eat the meat?

Well this was a tweet from "Africa Digest." Apparently her being a "White American savage" has them upset.

Imagine if someone called a black hunter a "Black African savage."
