One of my biggest bubbles being burst of all time was finding out being a SL was a pay for play scenario with Find Law. A piece of me died that day

I've learned you can be nominated but to have the big fancy profile and to continue being nominated you must pay to play..
I suppose that is the reason for the "rising stars" category.

Don't know if he's still practicing, but Chick Foret.

I had the sales rep once tell me how much I'd have to pay to get it.
I just had another big site contact me with a coach who could tell (sell) me how to get to their highest ranking. It's all BS.

Chick Foret is now a 24th JDC judge who appeared before the Judiciary Commission of La earlier this month.

Yeah SL and most of those are just to put on the website and bio for non-lawyers who do not realize it is just a pay to play marketing thing and classmates and co-workers just nominate each other once they meet the time requirement.
Not that it is a bad thing, a slight at awards, or something to look down on or anything but a bubble buster for sure. I congratulated a buddy once on getting another one for a new year when I saw his name in the LA Bar Mag and he didn't even know he got it and said "oh really, I didn't even realize we were still paying for those." lol

Yeah, I've never paid for FindLaw or Super Lawyers, so I'm sure my nominating years are coming to an end.
Same with all the other sites. Gotta pay to play and I'm a cheap bastard! Well, really I'd rather spend my small marketing money more effectively.)

Based on what I’ve personally seen and observed myself - Val Salomon out of Munro.

That’s like the Forbes 40 under 40 joke
“I am honored and humbled to be Forbes 40 under 40 for finance professionals in mergers in acquisitions, for the large cap healthcare services industry, that live in the West Village.”

Know a guy that used Mike small back in the 90’s or early 2000’s.
$50K retainer to start.
He went against counsel’s advice when pleading. Still sitting in prison.
