if Jesus could do miracles, why didn't he turn the people who tried to kill him into camels or some shite.

The people who murdered him basically said the same thing.

And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?" MATTHEW 27:46

God in the Lord Jesus Christ was on the crucifix and questioning his own divinity.

Not really.

quote:

What’s fascinating is that Jesus’ statement, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” is actually the first line of one of the Psalms. Jews who witnessed the crucifixion of Jesus would have recognized that He was quoting the beginning of Psalm 22. If you look through that Psalm, you will find some bizarre similarities to the scene at the cross.

V. 7-8 “All who see me mock me; they hurl insults, shaking their heads. ‘He trusts in the Lord,’ they say, ‘let the Lord rescue him. Let him deliver him, since he delights in him.’” (Mt. 27:39-43)

V. 14 “I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint.”

V. 15 “My mouth is dried up like a potsherd, and my tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth; you lay me in the dust of death.”

V. 16-18 “They pierce my hands and my feet. All my bones are on display; people stare and gloat over me. They divide my clothes among them and cast lots for my garments.” (Mt. 27:35)

Psalm 22 is all about the crucifixion! Line after line depicts what transpired with Jesus on that fateful, glorious day. In fact, the last line of the Psalm, “He has done it,” is almost the same as Jesus’ final words, “It is finished.”

As Jesus hung on the cross, He wasn’t moaning that God had turned away from Him. He was still prophesying to any who had the ears to hear. Those Jews who recited the words of the 22nd Psalm in their heads, could literally see it all happening right in front of their eyes! Even with His final dying breath, Jesus was reaching out to people, attempting to convince them that He was who He said He was, the Messiah, the Savior.

Answer this honestly: Would the world be a better or worse place if more people attempted to live life according to the lessons taught by Jesus?

Japanese society is arguably the most polite society on Earth, and they mostly aren’t Christ followers, so I would say it doesn’t really matter.

Those good concepts were there before Jesus.
Nobody even knows if he taught them. The tale of Jesus was passed on by word of mouth for like 40 years before it was written. Imagine if some nut claimed to be the son of god, then 40 years later some idiot millennials started a religion about a dude they never met.

I was raised Catholic. I’m not foolish enough to worship anything at this age.

Do people really fear anything more than their own death? Wouldn’t it be great if you could be free of that fear?

Except for decades, his followers were all over the middle east spreading his message - and those texts in the Gospels were written based on first-hand accounts.

I mean, I'm not Catholic so I don't know why you believe that this is some kind of shot at me. But I agree.

There are thousands of first hand accounts on the events. But whatever man, keep up with that Karl Marx "opiate of the masses" nonsense. That turned out well for everyone.

Ever hear of the Gospels? Or of the epistles of Peter, John, and James?

Hey man, no need to shite on us because of our faith
This is what we believe in, and it brings calmness to my heart and soul.
When in tough times I pray, and if being closer to god because of that helps me, then so be it.
But no need to be poo pooing on our beliefs

So at which point do you stop believing something that people for millennia have said took place?

When you find out hardly any of their stories add up, and that maybe one of them ever met Jesus. The only accounts on Jesus that are consistent are his baptism and crucifixion. Everything else is made up.

Not only that but there are similar stories to the Jesus one all over human history using different names.

By word of mouth.
The least accurate way to tell what happened.
