Benadryl

please don't use Benadryl or Unisom or anything in that family long term. very good chance they cause dementia/alzheimer.

Say a rosary and read a book.

An actual book under an incandescent lightbulb.

No LED or screen time. Too much blue light stimulation.

Not OTC….but once I was having trouble sleeping, so my doc wrote me a script for Ambien. On the first night I took one, I seemed to have had a good night’s sleep. When I went to get dressed, I noticed my phone was missing. Later, I found my phone on the seat of my truck and discovered that I had sent about 35 text messages to my ex girlfriend from 2 AM - 3:30 AM. No recollection of that shite at all.

Threw the Ambien in the garbage can a little while later

I worked with a guy 10-15 years ago that said he woke up one night and he was in his car driving in the middle of the night. Scary stuff.

A resting heart rate of 38?

You are either ill or your diagnostics are not trustworthy.

Hmmm...Low sat of 88%. Sleep apnea maybe...though it would usually go lower.

Or in good shape, I know that’s a novel concept

Magnesium Glycinate is your friend! Melatonin is awful for me and makes me so groggy the next day. Magnesium is just a relaxed feeling. You wake up feeling rested. Hard to describe unless you've taken it.

ETA: Just read the nightly bourbon part. Cut out the alcohol for a few days and make sure you're getting some physical activity in. No caffeine past mid day. Your sleep will improve ten fold.

I don’t know how this happens. It has a half life of 1-2 hours. It’s completely out of your system before you should be awake.

Your brain naturally uses melatonin to signal sleep so by supplementing all you’re really doing is sending a signal to your brain “ok it’s time to go to bed.” It shouldn’t really have any side effects

Z Factor, Magnesium Glycinate, Trazadone.
You people who don't have insomnia have no clue what you are talking about. I work out daily, eat good, read before bed, wear blue blockers, and have a great life with peace. Yet, I have to take these things. I just got off Unisom because of the links to dementia.

You are the 1%, this should be exceedingly easy to understand

I'm amazed at some of the responses of folks saying proper diet and exercise. Most responses indicate some thought of laziness.

I run 5+ miles most days and some weekends, dependent on training for a specific race, it could be a 15 miles Saturday.

There are still times I fight not sleeping well. Firm believer that sleep, as well as many other things, can be hereditary.

Currently formula is just benadryl, of which you can get the generic which is WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY cheaper.

Also, don't take this every night like I do. It's hard habit to break and it has links to dementia. I'm working on it now.
