Weights! Hey, brotha!
Took a few weeks off from my back pain and only did yoga, pilates, and isometric holds and I am feeling pretty good. Started this new routine on Monday so I will see how it goes.
You got a competition coming up soon?

His TDEE is 2,374 calories per day without exercise. 2,631 calories per day with 4 x 60 minutes of moderate exercise. Too much food.
Lyle Mcdonald who is one of the most respected people in this field reccomends simply multiplying your weight by 14 or 15 to calculate your maintenance calories. 231x14=3234 231x15=3465

Lyle McDonald is a 150 pound skinny fat douche bad lying piece of shite that manipulates studies to fit his agenda. Dude doesn't even look like he has lifted a day in his life.
In the words of Martin Berkham "frick Lyle McDonald's skinny arse"
and using a simple multiplier is not nearly as accurate as the tdee calculator especially when using BF% and waist size.

2800 calories? You could run a 5k every day and still gain weight on that diet.
huh? I am 6 ft and weigh around 180 and maintain on around 3000. Minimal cardio just weights

I am 6'0 230 (~18% bf) I do about 2250 for cutting (currently starting). I always keep the same types of workouts whether I am maintaining or cutting. I start heavy with compounds and do something like a 3x5 or a 4x5 then move to the 8-12 rep range with everything else. Cardio after for ~30 min.
Key is to stay consistent. That is all.
Bingo.
Too much of vary this and structure that in workouts.
The key is repetition. not for a month, or a year, but a decade +

That sounds exciting. Make sure to post new pics, brah. Best of luck and eat them eggs!
Someone told me yesterday that bodybuilders will eat a lot of carbs before a show to get a swelling look. Is that true?

Sabi, Yes i have heard of it. Jim is somebody I respect and he has good workouts.
With that being said, his program is not nearly as efficient at building muscle as some of the other programs I have talked about on here. Especially greyskull lp and 5/3/1 big but boring or Layne Nortons Phat program.

Depends on your weight/look the morning of the show.
For me... After weigh in the night before the show, I add in 1/2 cup white rice to every meal. The morning of, I work through my poses and warm up while eating either skittles or doughnuts, depending on how full I look.

before a show you carb deplete and then you over saturate right before the show.

I'm with you. These guys are eating very little on a cut, almost to the point of slowing their metabolism
I am 2400-2600 on a cut 2800-3000 maintain 3100-3300 on a bulk
And I am only 5'9 178
I don't see how these guys weighing 220+ eating 2200 aren't losing weight/muscle like crazy

That's so cool. It's amazing how our bodies can react to something like that.

Where do you train in BR? I have an office in Geismar and when I come that way I usually stop at Red's on my way in and on my way back home to H-town. I used to lift some at a place in Prarieville right off I-10 but it closed last time I was there.

Cool chart.
Your rest time in between sets and how you perform a rep is everything though. If he is taking his 10-15 rep set to failure and resting 30-45sec btw sets, he is creating a small cardio workout. Doing 1&1/2 reps or focusing on negative reps will help with burning fat as well. Can't rest forever. Have to bust your arse
All about that Time Under Tension.

It never fails though
Every year in the back as guys are warming up, rubbing tan on, etc... someone spills over. They ate too many carbs and lose their look... it's funny to see but kind of feel bad for them
