Soak it with diesel. A neighbor had the same problem and this was the only thing that worked.

Desperation may lead me to this at some point. Just not yet. See my last post... i doubt it will do any better than the acid did, unless i dump copious amounts. But if you insist it actually killed it, i may reconsider a light diesel spray.

It's a soil sterilization herbicide, much stronger that your traditional "Kill everything" spray you buy at home depot.

You do not need a license to buy it online, but its not sold in stores.

It's something you should be cautious spraying in a ditch if rain is anticipated in the next 24-48 hours.

I'd rather not deal with the potential consequences of that

I will likely try the pramitol. It's relatively inexpensive. My only doubt is it says apply before growth or up to three months after. This shite is well established. Maybe several applications over a few months will do the trick. That, combined with the salt, which I've already purchased a few bags to see how it goes on one end of the ditch. It'll take a while to dissolve.

Thanks!

I'm not worried about the acid because it's a light mist and it neutralizes quickly. There are zero downstream effects.

It will still kill it even though its after 3 months, Mix it at the strongest dilution (32oz Per Gal), and water it in will after applying. Pramitol's mechanism of action is through the roots unlike most herbicides, so dont waste spray on the stems, focus your spraying on the bases of the stems and the ground around them. It only works if it gets in the soil.

My neighbor tried for years to kill his horsetail. The only thing that worked for him was spraying it with diesel and it may have taken more than one application. I'm not an advocate for using something like this but I would assume it's no worse for the soil than using acid or herbicides. This was in our side yard and after the horsetail was gone, the area did not seem to damaged.
