"strong" front moving thru this weekend? Whats the resident OT weather gurus seeing as far as severe weather?
slight risk for NLA. Marginal for everyone else. Whats the difference meteorologically?

I don't know, but if you check with Diane Deaton on Monday she will claim that she warned you about whatever happened, no matter what happens.

Those categories are misleading. In my experience:
Marginal = don't plan anything outdoors
Slight = prayers sent
Moderate = RIP

The categories mean what they mean. Period.

You never really can tell with severe weather. We're in the Marginal risk category but close to the "Slight" risk category. We may have an isolated severe storm or two, we may not see any rain at all, or we may have a significant outbreak.
In February 2017's outbreak, we were only in a slight risk zone early that morning. By noon, New Orleans, Donaldsonville, and Killian were all shredded by significant tornadoes.

Please don't wish F5's on us.
I was on a search for a gif of the guy from Twister calling F5's the "finger of God" when I came across a better twister gif. Here y'all go!

Oh, I missed the Rowlett F4 by about 30 minutes a few Decembers back driving home from New Orleans. Was actually the last time I drove from DFW to New Orleans. I fly now

Unless the storm prediction center places southeast Louisiana in a Watch Box by noon tomorrow, I would not be too concerned.
Hail and strong down drafts may occur in isolated severe thunderstorms. Looks like best dynamics and thermodynamics will occur north if Covington, La to Alexandria line.
UpDate: 2 pm Friday : SPC now shifts slight Risk area northward citing weaker lapse rates over SE La with less solar heating likely due to cloud cover/ Precipitation cooling. More stable layer would likely reduce severe weather over south central/ SELa.

Interesting. We were driving back from Baton Rouge about the same time however my experience was much worse. We had a dropping tornado go right over our vehicle in the Canton area. All of our phones were going crazy with alerts. Then, we're heading into the east side of DFW and the F4 misses us by no more than a mile as we're on 635. My stupid daughter is asking me to plug in a usb while the shite is hitting the fan.....you serious Clark? Scary moment.

Typical late winter "severe" set up for here. Decent shear, marginal (at best in this case) lift. Not worried.
