I just bought a new Tissot. I have been unable to talk myself into spending more than $1,500.00 on a watch despite how much I enjoy them.
Same. It's a gift for a special occasion, so I have a little bit of leeway, and I don't want to waste it. But for all intents and purposes, I'm right there with you.

For a recent special occasion, I'm looking to splurge a bit more on a luxury watch and would really appreciate recommendations. Thinking dress watch in the $2k-$4k range, preferably moonphase but not required.
I’m definitely not a dress watch wearer, but if I lived a lifestyle that lent itself to having to wear a dress watch I’d probably get a Grand Seiko like this SBGW231

Or the SBGR261

ETA: if I had 4k to spend on a watch I’d probably buy something more versatile though. Personally, I’d probably go for a Black Bay 54.

82 Rolex 16800 currently riding a Zulu diver nato. It’s going back to Michael young soon to get the case resto because a previous owner over polished it and it needs a service anyway.

Whatever is missing from here.

The 2 that comes to mind under $4k is the Longines Flagship Moonphase and the Baume et Mercier Clifton. Or you can blow the budget and get a JLC MUT Moon.

Just shop for a steel Rolex. You get exclusive invitation to join the imaginary list where you can visit the website frequently to know exactly what you want when that phone call comes. I’ve been on several lists for about 6 months which has kept from spending any money on a watch. It’s a solid plan.

How often do you wind your watches? That seems like a lot to keep up with

Interesting choices
PP 5711 blue Nautilus
Tudor Heritage 41mm burgundy with the OG modded ETA movement
You can't really see the color in the picture but that is a Rolex 116619 blue WG Sub that is headed to service for a missing pip.

If you look none are set correctly. When I switch watches each day if the movement hacks I hack it then just set it when I put it back on. If the movement doesn't hack I just let it rundown and wind and set it when I put it on. The rotation is 60 days, no need to keep them all running since I don't have any annual or perpetual calender watches. I am generally not a fan of winders.

I’m OT poor, so I’m currently wearing a Glycine Combat Sub, which is my current favorite:
I alternate between the Glycine and either a Certina DS ph200m or a vintage Raketa “Big Zero”. And a cheap Seiko 5 when I’m doing yard work or just hanging around the house.
My current dream watch is an Omega Seamaster 300M ref. 210.32.42.20.01.001. But it’s juuuust a bit outside my budget right now.
