OT Property experts-Sewage line runs across neighbors property
They damaged it by running tractors cutting/bailing hay and building fences, etc. How am I responsible for the repairs?

Damage is on their property not mine, but my sewage line.

Instead of waiting for them to do something why not get it fixed and argue with them about it after the fact. Sewerage is kind of important.

Because your shite will back up if they won't fix it.

But serious question is why is your line run on their property?

The only way they would be responsible is if there is an easement type agreement. Otherwise, you should have your line corrected to connect on your side.

They are not responsible for your line running across their property. Unless you have something in writing they can go cut you shite off and say frick you. I’d just fix it and not pisss them off

Details like what? My line runs across their property. Crap ton of tractors and vehicles and 4-wheelers running across the line all the time. None are mine since I don't own a tractor or atv. Plus there is no reason for me to be on their property. Except maybe now to repair the line.

like exactly how this came to be, you don't normally have a tie in that runs across someone else's property?

This! Please explain. Seriously, because it MAY have an impact on the actual responsibility issue.

re: OT Property experts-Sewage line runs across neighbors property
Need more details:

1) why is your line on their property? do you have utility access/right of way granted to their property

2) is the line actually a "municipal" line and it catches other properties along the way

if you have no right of way rights he can cut it off at the property line and you will need to reroute to another location

if this is the sewer main installed as part of a development or feeding a common treatment plant, then call the operator of the treatment plant letting them know they have a break in their main.

typically, the main is maintained by the treatment plant/municipal sewer company, and you are responsible for the 6" or 4" tee that comes off that line to catch you property.

if you look at developments of new subdivisions, you will see a 6" or 4" green pipe sticking out of the ground. that is the "house connection" for each parcel

re: OT Property experts-Sewage line runs across neighbors property
Not only are you responsible, you should get a servitude for the line on their property. If I were you I'd pay for the cost to repair it and talk to them about the situation and a possible easement agreement.

If they're not interested in granting you an easement you may have to abandon the line once it crosses into their property and install a new one to the main line directly through your property to the right of way.

ETA: You should definitely find a survey of your property if you have it, you should also find the subdivision plat. While it technically may be their property, their could've been a utility servitude shown on the original drawings. Then it'd be their problem to fix

You can stop here. Your shite runs on their property, literally. They could drive a tank on it and it’s your problem. I’d be more upset if I were them. Just fix it.

Maybe a larger tract with the sewer line that was resubdivided later? Should have an easement or servitude. Need latest survey.

Older house built 30 years ago, line ran with access to their property. I'd have to look at that old agreement. If any, could have been simple verbal since it was family back then.

In the country, no subdivision.
