Cosmo’s OT post

quote:

2019 Atlantic hurricane season now favors 'above-normal' activity, with 10-17 named storms, NOAA says

quote:

NOAA forecasters are now calling for 10-17 named storms with winds of 39 mph or higher, of which five to nine could strengthen into hurricanes. Of those storms, there will be two to four major hurricanes, which are classified as Category 3, 4, and 5 with winds of 111 mph or higher.

We should either ban Cosmo or sacrifice him to the Cajun weather gods. What do you Baws think?

It's a pretty uncertain forecast for above vs normal. We're getting toward the peak of the season. There will be hurricanes.

Should at least be quiet for the next couple of weeks.

They'll be correct, they left themselves enough wiggle room. 5-9? What the frick? I can assume that every year.

Yeah....they are full of shite. They don't have any idea about how any of the above info could be true.

I could have predicted that and crafted the above sentence in about 5 minutes.

They can't even predict what an existing storm is going to do within a few days

You've reached your limit of 4 threads every 24 hours.

BTW, your Alien thread was better.

A lot of dry air and shear over the Atlantic basin right now.

Not sure how conditions will be going into peak season though it’s only early August

It's like weather people get bored when there's no actual weather so they issue a new "forecast."

Has anyone ever done anything to track the accuracy of these things?
