I married outside my race, so zero fricks given about color as long as the person ain't trashy.
I would think this would be how most parents today would feel, but this thread says different. I am 38 (just to give everyone an idea what generations we are talking about) and dating outside of your race was kind of a foreign concept to my parents. It was a big deal to them if a white person was with a black person, but they were not really against it, it was just something that I guess.. they were taught was a "no-no"..
My grandparents on the other hand, especially my grandpa.. I am not exaggerating. If someone would have brought someone of a different race to his house he was going to get his gun..lol.. I know it might not be that funny when you think about it... but when you are talking about people living in the time.. its funny. I could tell yall a few things that he would say or do that was funny as hell, but it would get me banned, but my point is, it seems like it has become more and more acceptable with each generation.
I just don't understand people who say they would not rather their child be with someone of a different race, who makes them happy, etc

But you said cultural difference.
I did, and the issues would have been cultural (just different ways of doing things that would have stressed the relationship), not racial.

And yet in this very thread, you've expressly stated that there is a racial/cultural group that you would not want your kids to date.

There is always an exception to a rule.

Or, stated otherwise, most people have one or more preferences in respect of who they would like for their children to date/marry, etc. That's what some of us have been saying, but the "THAT'S RACIST" and other meaningless feel-good quips have been pretty overwhelming.

Nothing. My kid would be following their parents' example. Just would care if their SO was a good person who treated them with respect.

That is what matters most

It is well known the OT only likes black guys who can score touchdowns, shoot 3's, and steal bases.

Curious how many posters here have married outside of the lines.
Been married 5-1/2 years to a blue-eyed brunette from South Carolina/Texas. Been with her for over 8 years.
First kid on the way in June

I have, in a manner of speaking.

But why? Serious question
I don't have to be open and accepting of everything just because society tells me I need to be.
Snowflakes need to cover their eyes, but I do not care of cross race relationships. More power for those that find love and happiness in such endeavors, but it is not for me.

I wouldn't care but I'm not a piece of trash.

While I do not know Rouge's particular reasons, white people worldwide have a below replacement level fertility rate and are already one of the smallest 'races'. Given this reality, I would prefer a son or daughter to also have white children.

It's the way a lot of us were raised, if you want the truth. Overcoming things in your raising can be very difficult.

I have a confession. I Dont care one bit if my sons bring home a girl of different race or nationality. But she better not be fat. No fat chicks.
And any man my daughter brings home better be a righteous man and gentleman without being a slob or snowflake.
No fat chicks and no hippie snowflakes. That's where I draw the line.

So you'd prefer your kid to forsake their own happiness in their SO if they don't find one whose skin tone matches yours?
That's myopic. Why does proliferation of this race or that race matter? It's not a competition
IDGAF what happens to people who share my skin tone. It's kind of irrelevant.
