Dying if it sits for a few days.
Seems like overnight was no problem, but if it wasn’t started for 2-3 days it was dead.
Sounds like you have a parasitic drain. They can be a bitch to identify and repair. I had one on an Acura TL and the entire dashboard had to be removed to repair it.

2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
Is it a 4x4?
If yes, you should help your son get into something more safe.
2004 was the last year 4x4 Grand Cherokees had a solid front axle. They are NOTORIOUS for developing death wobble. If you’re not familiar, it’s a harmonic imbalance between the wheels that shows up at 40+ mph and makes the vehicle nearly uncontrollable.
The shittiest part is the vibration is so violent that it damages all of the parts that tie the wheels together. I’ve never seen a successful long term fix.
Also, that generation GC is notorious for developing issues in the electric circuitry. They often catch on fire.
Other than it almost killing me a few times, I loved my ‘04 GC.

See if you blew any of the fuses putting them back.
Which one do you think he blew?

Y’all some smart muthas. Fuel injector fuse blew.
I’m wondering if that’s the one that is draining the battery.

Should have pulled the fuses one at a time and plugged back into the correct slot. You probably stuck a 5 amp fuse in a 20 amp slot and popped the fuse... one that’s critical in making the car run... like the fuel pump.
Naw, had a photo of fuses in their place prior to pulling. Been down that road long ago.

guy at a body shop said to try taking out all of the fuses, then put them back in one at a time.
You do know he was just fricking with you right??

Easiest way would have been to use a multimeter on amperage setting remove one fuse at a time and check the amperage one circuit at a time. Some may always have a little amperage but the one draining the battery should stand out especially if it is happening in only 2 or 3 days.
I’ll do that too.

Follow the suggestions for checking for a parasitic drain as suggested. There’s plenty of instructions on the Internet to walk you through it.
Make sure you have a drain active before proceeding with checking each fuse. Sometimes it can be something that keeps running after the engine has been turned off which by now is reset. I’ve had the cause be something hard to locate like an O2 sensor.

It’s a 2WD. Good info though thanks.

Check the specs on the end line rotary girder.

Seems like you're trying to catch lightning in a bottle there. You can put your multimeter in current ("amps") mode and connect the leads to the fuse terminals to check for current. You'll want to try switching the red/black leads if you don't see anything. I believe most ammeters are directional and I'm not sure they can even detect current flowing the "wrong" way.

No pull all the fuses use an ohm meter on each circuit

Is this the same one he wrecked last year and fricked the front end?
Posted on 4/27/19 at 6:43 pm to MrLarson
Sure is. He finally got it fixed.

just a shot in the dark- has he installed any aftermaker items like stereo head unit, sub, etc?
