OT Mechanics: AC works fine whilst driving, not so well idling

When not moving with the AC going, compressor will kick on for a couple of seconds every 20 seconds or so. Generates a short burst of cold air during that frame, but then back to ambient.
All works well when driving.
Ideas?

short cycling because it is low on Freon. get some added or you will burn the AC clutch out...

Need to check the Freezerator Compressor.

why does it work fine on the move?

Air moving across the condenser. What is the vehicle involved? Electric or mechanical radiator fan?

Get a can of A/C pro at Walmart

Lemme guess... F150 ecoboost?

Put more oil in every cap you see. I know it sounds weird but you'll thank me later.

If your sled has an electrical fan motor (or two) to move air, one or both may not be cycling on, as needed.
Chevy did a bit of redesign work on theirs. You may need to upgrade to the new motors and fans.
Your problem is air flow, not Freon.

Load that bitch up with freon. You likely have a leak somewhere.

While your car is moving, it’s forcing air over the condenser next to your radiator. While stopped, there’s either electric fans or a fan attached to a belt driven pulley which force air over the condenser. Since your ac works at speed but not while stoppped, visually check for those fans running. If they aren’t ever cycling on, figure out why.

This.
It works fine moving bc air is flowing as you drive. When you stop the fans aren’t pushing enough air or any air to cool.

If the fans are cycling correctly, then check the coil. If it is clogged with bugs etc. then that could be the air flow issue. sounds like the compressor is cycling due to high head pressure rather than low freon

Have your bf jerk you off while idling. You’ll forget about the A/C.

Pics of wife/SO for context?

Air flow.
Fan isn't moving enough air while idling.
If your compressor is cycling too much, something else in the system needs attention too.

Sounds to me like a Dodge with a condenser fan out
