Work with some guys that were Marines. They are great guys and their time in the corps is just a footnote in their lives. Much respect for them.

On another note, my bro in law was in the national guard and he always brings up his "military trained mind" and brags about the military teaching him to shoot and how to think. Really is comical.

Marines are trained and taught to have pride in everything we do. There's a reason that Marines gaurd our embassies and are Who you see posted at the White House when the president leaves and returns. We celebrate our traditions and have a brotherhood that goes beyond our service. Being a Marine is like being a Doctor. yes nurses and other services can do similar if not almost exactly the same jobs, but the Doctor is the one who earned that title.

You won't understand unless you've gone through it and are a part of it.

Also sounds like someone got their feelings hurt because they got their girl stolen by a Marine in blues.

Maybe you should try meeting some Marines that aren't 18 years old and fresh out of boot camp. Of course there are some fricking douche bags who live by quotes like that.
Boot camp does brainwash the young guys to an extent. I've been out for about 5 years now and you'd never know it. I don't walk around with a high and tight, no douche tattoos, and I don't talk about my deployments.
I'm extremely proud that I had the opportunity to serve, but I'd never put down another branch because I felt I had king dick syndrome. At the end of the day, every military branch is composed of human beings.
If you choose to surround yourself with assholes, military or not, that's the kind of shite you're going to see. Think about it next time you see a giant pair of nuts hanging off the back of an F-250.

Excellent post, Dicyor.

You're making the USMC look good.

Army checking in. I pretty much know how this guy in the OP feels... It's maybe more of a "Let's get passed thanking me for my service, but could you please be accurate about it going forward?"

Oh, and

What do Marines and bannans have in common?

They both die on the beach in bunches.

With the way our country is caving to political correctness, I'm sure a new branch of the armed forces will be created and they'll say "hip hip hooray"

The least people could do is learn a few basic facts since the marines put their lives on the line every single day for our freedom
