My favorite mountain bike I own is a '98 vintage Rocky Mountain Team Only Vertex Limited hardtail. It is built up with NOS (I had hoarded away) full XLR except for a Race Face crank, with a Rock Shox SID and Mavic X517 hoops on Chris King hubs black anodized DT spokes and the required blue nipples. Under 18 pounds and flat out fast. A couple of pre-assembly pics:

Commuter is a Mitsubishi Mirage....43 MPG. From Friday to Sunday a GMC Sierra 3500. Also usually take the truck on any road trip. 46 mile one way commute is too much wear and tear on one vehicle unless it costs $15K new and then its smart financially to buy 3 of the damned things
