99% of lawyers give the other 1% a bad name...

Go to work for John Bel's firm. Surely he will make a fortune in pay backs after he leaves office---maybe he will share with the hired help.

I hate all lawyer ads, but I hate the ones by NB&A the most; "How much is your case worth (to me)?"

He isn;t going to make squat. No one's hiring young PI lawyers fresh out of law school. Like someone said earlier older experienced attorneys are jumping ship to work for McKernan and Callahagan's of the world etc.
There's no market at all for him.
he's going to starve.

Maybe SULC grads
Plenty of small civil firms in Baton Rouge, Lafayette, and New Orleans hire new grads.

Since Morgan and Morgan are "For the People", the lawyers probably make a paltry amount, while the victims make bank.
Scratch M&M off the list.

For P.I. work?

Sure. I see the ads on our job bank all of the time. Writing motions, taking depositions, and appearing in court every now & then is pretty much the standard requirements listing.

Not in Louisiana
Hell, the guys who run our trial advocacy boot camp in August prefaced it by saying we essentially will not go to trial much in our careers

what?
PI firms hire associates to do the stupid researching/writing and silly appearances as they learn how to do depos
then they do depo prep for a bit and handle that bitch work
then they get into preparing evidence and trial/mediation notebooks and may sit in on trials
their work is to allow the older lawyers the ability to settle cases, prepare for trial/mediation, and supplement at trial. who the frick is hiring young attorneys to do actual trials?

That's not true I know people straight out of LSU that are getting paid 90kish at gordon, spencer. The crappier firms are 45-55kish from what i heard

1. You either have clients/cases (about 20% of practicing lawyers) or you work for cats who do.
2. If you work for cats who do, outside of "big law" firms in New Orleans and (doesn't really exist in BR, Laffy or Shreveport, but some are approaching) - lawyers working for a living usually top out at $75k, $80k or a little more. Guys who have clients/cases (or who can bring them in with either volume or high value) can make $200k or more, long-term and ramp up pretty quickly.
3. Lawyering in Louisiana is largely a 2-class society. A few "name" PI lawyers running their own (or with a parter or two) heavy advertising firm and senior partners at middle-to-larger insurance defense firms are the lion's share of cats making the big bucks. The rest of them are scrapping it out either 1 case or 1 billable hour at a time. I don't want to ignore the handful of solo practitioner/boutique lawyers doing well, but I'm focusing on the bulk of lawyers - litigators in civil, criminal or both.
