OT History Buffs Assemble! Lets discuss the early Confederate Ironclads

I have been reading a lot on these lately. The Confederates really f**ked this up. They tried to build the CSS Arkansas and the first CSS Tennessee in Memphis even though they didn’t have the infrastructure there to build them (the CSS Arkansas’s engines were built in NOLA). The CSS Mississippi and CSS Louisiana were built in NOLA but they were too large. The CSS Louisiana was only equipped with 6 of its 10 guns and it’s second paddle wheel was a hinderance more than it helped. Plus the south didn’t have enough ship wrights in NOLA to build them properly. The union had City class gunboat designs on display in St Louis and confederate agents sent reports back south. Even with all of the f**k ups the CSS Louisiana was almost operational by the time the Union fleet passed Fort Jackson and Fort St Phillip (workmen were finishing connecting the engines to the steering propellers as the Yankees were passing the forts and it was certified as ready for battle a few hours after the battle) and the CSS Arkansas was only delayed 3 months by it having to be evacuated to Yazoo City after Battle of Memphis. Do yall think if the south had shrunk the size of the CSS Louisiana from 10 guns to 6 guns like the Arkansas and if they had moved the ship wrights building the Arkansas and Tennessee to NOLA they could have finished at least 2 ironclads before Farragaut ran past the forts? Also do yall think that have 2 major ironclads and the CSS Manasses would have stopped Farragaut from capturing NOLA? Napoleon III was preparing to recognize the CSA without British support prior to the fall of NOLA and Memphis.
