Plastic syringe is your best bet with small children. Squirt a small amount at a time in the side of their mouth. Very gently rub/message their throat after(this makes them swallow and is better than blowing all over your kid's face).
Also bribing with stickers works well as does giving them a small amount of juice or something else to drink first and then give small amount of med, followed by juice.

You know what used to work great? I would mix the medicine in with their milk. It would work great most times, but would completely fail and waste the medicine if for whatever reason they refused to drink their milk.

Only problem with that is if they don't finish it, you don't know how much of the med they got. I always tell parents if they insist on doing that, mix it with a tiny amount of milk/juice/etc.
Also, if you are in the hospital saying "if you don't take that, the nurse is gonna give you a shot" is also never a good idea. Then they are just gonna pitch a fit every time the nurse walks in their room and will be even more afraid of nurses/doctors each time they go for checkups.

bullshite! Those things are a godsend. My kid gets those damn ear infections all the time. We just have to put drops in for a few days and they are gone.

Even then it's only successful if they drink their milk/juice/etc. I believe they get to the point where they can sense that the milk or juice tastes different and therefore they choose not to drink it.

I agree. We never use this tactic.

Tubes are not a sham my boy was getting a ear infection at least once a month due to the fluid not draining properly finally we decided to take him to a ent and had tubes done last April and he has not had one since he is six by the way.

Okay...okay...so perhaps they aren't a sham. But children usually grow out of ear issues by age 3. My little one has had maybe 4 ear infections since birth. I'll chance one more year.

Yeah your kid doesn't need them, but for other kids like mine its wonderful. My poor baby couldn't crawl, because she head no equilibrium. 2 hours after getting the tubes, she was crawling everywhere. She started talking and eating way more as well.

Hahaha. I used to do the same thing. One of mine wouldn't eat gravy with rice or meat or potatoes, etc. I finally told him it's not gravy, it's meat sauce. Ate it right down.
