OT fashion experts - question about socks

Is it a fashion faux pas to wear white crew socks with shorts and athletic shoes? I generally wear the quarter length socks, but crew socks offer more support for a bad ankle that I have when I do a lot of walking. Don't tell me I should wear the 1/4 length sock on one foot and then the crew length sock on the foot with the bad ankle.

Yeah. For some reason it'll have less swelling when I wear them.

I couldn't find any ankle socks the other day and wore khaki shorts with crew socks and tennis shoes the other day because it was raining
