OT Doctors - Should I be concerned about alcohol-induced chest pains?

I’d say 75% of the time, one drink can cause really uncomfortable chest tightness, pain, and pressure. It’s only alleviated by drinking copious amounts of water about 30 minutes after consumption due to severe bloating. Beer is the worst culprit but wine and liquor both have similar effects. Bourbon seems to be the easiest alcohol for me to drink as it doesn’t cause the pain as nearly as much as beer or wine.

I haven’t seen a doctor about this because I can easily control it by not drinking alcohol. I can even predict if I’ll have symptoms after drinking by exercising earlier in the day and limiting my food intake for the day - particularly carbs.

Sooooo...I guess my question is what the hell is wrong with me?

If you can't stop doing the thing that is causing you chest pains, you have a problem.

Who said that?

I rarely drink. Like one drink a month maybe.

Sounds like you may want to slow down but I’m not you for sure.

Yeah I don't think chest pains are an underlying problem for any type of medical issue. I would forget about it and maybe even drink with more frequency. You might build some immunity.

Look up alcoholic gastritis, and might have underlying other issues that are enhanced with the addition of alcohol and things associated with alcohol to the system...

I will preface this with the obligatory “this is not medical advice, see your primary care physician for that, or go to the ER for any chest pain.”

Probably just reflux. If your stringedinstrument of choice requires a bow to play, you’re probably Asian and lack the alcohol dehydrogenase enzyme, which is more problematic.

You got the gluten Aids.

And it's anxiety that your wife will leave you before she inherits all that money.

That’s what I’ve always thought but it’s so uncomfortable that it feels more like an allergic reaction or something.
