Next time a medical professional wants to do something I’ll make sure to ask the OT first. Good thinking

If she has had the vax, an xray could kill her.

Anytime there is trauma an X-Ray is a good idea. Ive treated patients with un-diagnosed fractures and it sucks to find out after the fact. Generally it's the PT sending the patient to ortho because thing aren't right.

I don’t think they will see anything in less it’s broke. You’re going to have to get a MRI or Cat Scan to see the ligaments

In my experience, urgent care docs charge you through the nose for a bunch of shite you don’t need. Are you all claiming this doesn’t happen in healthcare? And that every treatment option recommended should be accepted without a second thought? That’s part of the reason our system is so ludicrously expensive. I’m just asking if this is one of those situations or not. It seems fairly impossible that a bone was broken, and she’s not in an unbearable amount of pain.

Well the why the frick did you go to urgent care if you had all the answers, doc

We’re at urgent care and they want to do X-rays. Is that a waste of money?

This is a wise investment of your time in order to seek expert second advise.

You should never get a joint MRI without first getting radiographs.

That said, the radiographs will likely be negative and urgent cares generally have crappy quality control so a good orthopedist will typically repeat them.

Get copy of x-rays after finished there for her to take to her ortho back home because she will likely need a follow-up.

X-ray won't show soft tissue damage. Going to need an MRI from her PCP or ortho for that.

Some times you have to watch urgent care centers in that they are not just small emergency rooms. I can recall hearing story where someone was injured and they went to one of these urgent care/emergency room type facilities and they were taken for a financial ride when they were billed as though they had gone to a hospital emergency room and was billed even for some out of network stuff when they thought they were going to an in network urgent care.

So it pays to take a note of where you go and who you are dealing with.

If medical care is to expensive then there is always the Old Yeller treatment behind the Urgent Care.

Be a gentleman and tell her to just walk off the pain. She will appreciate you more for making her move.

If it still hurts walking, depending on what your girlfriend looks like, you can bring her to a veterinary urgent care center for 1/4 of the price. Those doctors will examine her if you slip them an extra 20. .
