Ostracism and the first social media

In ancient Athens, ostracism was a very real thing, literally. In the 5th century BC, every male citizen would decide if they wanted to ostracize someone. If they did, they would vote to kick someone out of the city for 10 years. After that 10 years, he was free to return but if he wasn’t pardoned and he came back before that 10 years, he was killed.
If they did decide they wanted to banish someone, they would vote with pot shards (ostraka). Whoever had the most votes is the guy they kicked out so many years, there were multiple people in the running.
But thousands of these pot shards have survived. And sometimes they’re just as petty as any modern neckbeard typing away on the internet.
Some examples that have been found and I paraphrase:
I vote for John because he is rich and powerful
Jim is a bugger
James should leave Athens and go lay with Mary (his sister) elsewhere
Ron is an a-hole
More are out there but I can’t remember
