It was great news at the time.
It is odd how many soldiers who were there at the time believe he had been dead for years and that the whole SEAL raid was a political stunt.
Before Snowden and WikiLeaks I would have said these people were tinfoil idiots. After seeing the corruption and manipulation our government is capable of at home and abroad it would not surprise me if we find out it was all bullshite.
Either way, glad he is dead.

I just finished reading a book on the history of JSOC. The 160th SOAR pilots thought they could fly the "crashed" stealth Black Hawk out (no troop load) empty. The SEALs and JSOC were like "frick that, we've had enough excitement already. Blow it up."

It was a symbolic time for us. After years of trying to hunt that cock sucker, they finally found him and took him out.
But, while I don't consider myself a conspiracy theorist, I always wonder if there is more to the story that what we are told.
Sometimes things seem to suddenly happen during election years and it was president Obama's last year of his first term. I just wonder if there was a chance they found him much earlier, but they wanted to wait until the "right" time to make the kill.
Of course, if that was the case, it would have been closer to the election, not right before everyone will soon be going on vacation and it wouldn't no longer be fresh in their mind.
