I am of the believe that if like a watch then go for it, I am only posting to share my experience. Just the big size of Invictas' watch case depth is a quick deterrent for me, usually a bad sign. I've seen some references to Orient watches in threads. I'm not a serious watch collector but i do collect watches. I have never spent over $400 on a watch, so my market is much lower than most of you ballers. I have the likes of Citizen, Seiko, Orient, Daniel Wellington, Vostok, Nixon(star wars collection), Fossil, etc.

Orient, in my opinion is the most underrated due to its market. Its a true "automatic" watch with a slim case, history back to the 1930's. My favorite watch in my collection is this 'bambino' that could be bought for $100:

I am not a watch person, but I like the simplicity of this one.

Of the cheap watches I've always thought Orient or Tissot were most appealing.

I don't like the band, but that's not a bad looking watch.

**Invicta watches are terrible, fyi.

Orient watches are decent. Invicta watches are pure garbage.

Nice looking watch.

I like wearing watches because I like to know what time it is. Also, I’d like it to look decent and be reasonably durable.

But I don’t like to spend a lot of money on a watch, and I don’t like people thinking that I’m pretentious.

You could say that I’m a simple man with simple tastes. I don’t go for too much adornment.

So, I’m thinking about getting a basic Citizen Eco-Drive watch. Hopefully it will last longer than the Fossil I had for 2 years and the Timex I had for one year before that.

Any advice from you watch guys?

Eco-drive will be a great investment, the value in the solar alone is worth it. Very durable and pretty much maintenance free, unless never worn (solar needs light). Consider Seiko also. I like the mechanical aspects of an automatic watch due to nostalgia, but solar is more practical imo.

Thanks for the advice. I think the kids might be getting me a watch for Father’s Day. Hopefully they listened carefully to my detailed hints.

I have two Orient watches and they've been great.

For the money and my budget, Seiko watches are hard to beat. I have 3 Seikos and they are all fantastic timepieces.

My Orients:

I've been wearing an Orient Black Ray for the past four years and it's a fantastic watch. It's a gorgeous watch and punches well above it's weight and. It normally runs about $150 but I got it on sale for $72.

Jumping in on the Orient Express.
I love my Orient, best $100 I've spent on a watch.

I think Orient is a great value for mechanical watches, as is Seiko. Most of what I have is Seiko and my daily beater is a tan Seiko Sports 5.

Does the Seiko Sport have hand winding? I want to get a SKX but my hesitation is that Seiko has opted out of adding simple hand winding to one of their most beloved watches. For someone not wearing the same watch daily, it could be a problem.

I've seen better watches in the quad.

My 5 doesn’t. As for the SKX, I have a 009 and love it in spite of a lack of hand winding (or hacking seconds).
