He was also referred to as a "fixer" so I am sure there has been a time or two when he was aware of illegal behavior going on.

Client tells lawyer about a crime. Lawyer dictates notes for secretary to type up. Is the secretary bound by the same privilege?

Biggest problem with the modern mob was letting drugs get in

Yep. Along with drugs came long prison sentences and that gave a lot of guys arrested and facing decades in prison a reason to rat and get a reduction in their sentences.

Then add to that the RICO Act where it is considered a criminal conspiracy if one of the lower echelon guys does something criminal and gets caught and they can go up the chain of command to arrest, charge and try everyone.

And speaking of some of the smartest. Arnold Rothstein and Lucky Luciano fit right in that group.

:kige:

To be fair, the 4 amigos - including Luciano - trained under Rothstein because of the Lansky and Seigel connection.

They have figured out how to disguise themselves as legit business people and even infiltrate our government. Case in point...our current holder of the Oval office.

From the moral codes

All groups of men should have these, from the Romans to the Vikings to the mongols.

La Cosa Nostra, the Triads, the Cartels.

Can’t trust a man without a code.

the blatant disregard for society's laws

Laws...made by politicians trying to fleece money from the people. You realize how many laws are on the books?

How many outdated laws you break every day?

Society is better when we go back to the basic laws. The primal ones.

The laws of hospitality. Of guest right and host right. Protect the innocent and punish the guilty.

These are the laws men should abide by above all.

I have been wondering for a while now how organized crime could've been bigger & how they could've gotten away with it.

Become the government. They’re the biggest gang of them all.
