If your company/school allows you to take a day for your mental health, you aren't shirking any responsibilities.

Yeah. Those 24 hours someone takes off is going to sink the company, isn’t it?

I don’t think that at all. Life is difficult for everybody. But that doesn’t mean that you should get to just shirk your responsibilities.
Taking a day off from school or work is shirking responsibility now?

No, I just don’t think it’s so hard that the kids should get a mental health day unless you know...they actually have mental health problems.

I'm pretty sure he's trolling at this point.
No one is that dumb.

It’s sad that people still have that mentality.
I watched my Dad work himself damn near to death, not taking days when he should have. And his benefit? Decent retirement but healthcare that’s being chipped away.
Thanks but no thanks.

So high school/college kids can't have mental health problems?
What's the age that the light switch goes off and people are able to be mentally ill?

so we should wait till they have problems before we try something?
why not try some preventative measures? seems more logical, no?

YOU don’t think it’s hard! YOU! YOU! YOU!
Because YOU don’t think it’s hard, that makes it easy for everyone else? It’s just a breeze for you, as an adult, it’s the easiest path through life as a 14 year old ? (who’s never experienced anything like HS before)

Let’s make sure he understands what that means.
We should be PROACTIVE instead of REACTIVE.
It’s like you know your car needs an oil change. You know it will prolong the life of your engine. Do you wait until your engine is knocking and THEN change the oil?

Yeah let’s wait until you’ve gotten a documented clinical diagnosis and a couple of suicide attempts before we let them have some days off.
If he shoots the school up in the interim, well, that sucks but by God he got those classroom days in.

You seem to be getting pretty worked up over this. You sure you don’t need a mental health day to calm down? I mean a mere difference of opinion has you completely apoplectic.

Oregon is full of pussies

I can remember middle school being a pretty traumatic experience for me. Being poor and not having the nicer clothes and being a goofy looking kid made my life hell.
Would come home and go straight to my room crying many days. And that was the late 80s/early 90s. Like you couldn't pay me 10 million dollars to relive those years. Many girls that age are vicious, cruel bitches in pre-teenage bodies.
Can only imagine how much worse it is today for kids that age and up to HS age with social media displaying any embarrassing moments we have for all the world to see. They can't even go home to escape it....it follows them everywhere now.

You have an issue with a student taking a personal day?
Want to know what the difference is? At work you EARN days off......not so much for students.
False equivalency.

Be honest, you had to google what "apoplectic" meant before you used it so you could try to not sound like a dumbass.
