There are no treatment guidelines or screening for persistent carcinogenic hpv positivity; I'm doing research on it this year and just curious what clinicians were doing or would do if presented with that case, as i imagine it will become a more common clinical scenario over the coming decades. Thanks for the input

So, we should not have oral sex?
Posted on 2/21/15 at 11:52 am to TigerGyp
I don't as a result of my research but that's me
The idea throughout the 90s and the last decade that oral sex is safe though is being shown to be patently false

Not all cases become Cancer but if u get it oral and throat cancers have about a 50% death rate.
Actually oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinomas associated with HPV tend to have abetter prognosis than those not associated with the virus...not that any OPSCC is good.

Better than non hpv associated yes
But the average of all oral cancers is a 50% death rate and more than a majority of oral cancers are hpv related. Haven't seen the numbers for hpv oral cancer death rate but 30-50% seems reasonable based in above

I feel silly even responding to this stupidity
An article in something called new age man? A quote from a non randomized non scientific study that isn't even complete that is funded by a research group never heard of or in any reputable journal?
That article exists for one reason - to get clicks for webpage

Well, thankfully the GF has been tested and doesn't have it. So I'm safe

I hear there's significant financial backing of the study by The Onion

She has had HPV testing or a Pap smear? Big difference in what they test. Few people get HPV testing and only recently did USPTF recommend hpv testing in women over 30

If she specifically said HPV testing them I'm going to say that's it. Since most women who regularly visit their OB/GYN know there's a difference in a pap smear and a test for STDs.
Now get off my cunninglingus lawn.

Smoking and guns in household are predictors of shorter life span

There are certainly worse ways to get cancer.

Tonsillectomies and direct laryngoscopy with biopsies for all people who remain HPV positive after X number of years?
So people with tonsillectomies are at a somewhat lower risk?
What would be more useful, laryngoscopy or EGD?
