I work for a huge company and have never been given any instructions on how to pee in the cup

Those are instructions for a clean catch sample. Sometimes a regular urinalysis can include bacteria with no signs of infection. These help clarify the diagnosis. It helps keep people from being unnecessarily treated with antibiotics

This. A drug screen won’t give a false positive of bacteria from your skin gets in the catch cup.

I figured it was for a specific type of sample. I just went into the bathroom, deposited, placed the cup in the door and then saw that sign and thought "I sure did skip a lot of steps"
