Opinion on cash wedding registries?

I talked my fiancé into doing this, but she was reluctant. She thinks people will see it as tacky. We already own a home and have furnished it. If people are going to give us gifts, I would rather it be cash than a bunch of items we don't really need - even if people think it's weird.
We are explaining our situation and saying the money will go to home improvement projects and the honeymoon (which it will), but curious to what people in general think about this?

Asking for cash is absolutely tacky.

I would probably spend more on a gift than give someone cash.
But if you already have all the shite you need then go for it.

things like HoneyFund? I've given cash to a couple that was registered on a site that went towards their honey moon. Like I paid for one of their excursions while in the Caribbean.

rather cash as well
Also, as a guest i would rather it as well. I dont have to go shopping and out my way to get you a present.
However, I am a dude

Doesn't sound like a bad idea to me really, but people really enjoy giving gifts. Expect a few people to get mad

I'd still buy you a 5 piece flatware set from BB&B fwiw.

I don't give a frick. Better than buying some pointless shite for the couple who already has everything IMO

No offense but:
Trashy, and Im thinking your wedding will also have a cash bar? = Trashy Squared

Ask for gift cards instead of straight cash. You'll get plenty enough of that already.

Tacky. Just have a couple extra Money Dances instead.

There's this nifty thing called the internet. You can buy a wedding present and have it delivered wrapped and with a card all from your couch.

I don't buy wedding gifts, my presence is a gift in and of itself

Even tackier. If that's a word.

I was in a similar situation. We asked people not to bring gifts at all. So we got rando shite and a few gift gift cards. Just about every single person brought something.
Just sign up for stuff that's easy to bring back and make your life easier. People expect to give shite at a wedding.

You can return the gifts and combine to get what you really want

Trashy as frick.

I can't believe she agreed. Asking for cash is the #1 faux pas, and every bride is made acutely aware of this during wedding planning.

Asking for cash is tacky and trashy, no matter what the occasion
