Opelousas Mayor turns himself in after "taking" over $17,000 in overtime after 2016 flood

Funny, I just met this dude last week setting up something at the Civic Center.

On Friday morning, November 3, Mayor Reggie Tatum appeared before the judge after turning himself into the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Department. Bond was set for Tatum at $10,000 and he announced that he will retain his own counsel for court proceedings. A date for Tatum's arraignment is pending notification from the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Department.
Tatum was indicted earlier this week on 15 counts including malfeasance in office and theft, stemming from overtime payments he received after the August 2016 flood.

Having grown up in Opelousas, I have a pretty good idea.
I know this guy, he's a fricking idiot.
Just about everyone I know from growing left Opelousas and never went back. And most of their parents moved outside the city limits too, or even further (mostly to Lafayette).
It's a dying town.
