What ever happened to the Tiger Weekly? That one was more conservative and all around better than the Reveille.

It was sold to some national magazine and is now a monthly called The Dig.

It's useless now.

Hate to break it to y'all but it has been like this since I was at LSU. We all act like its new and the end of the US but it isn't. It was the hippies in the 70's, the Punks in the 80's, not sure what to call them in the 90's and now this generation of snot nosed spoiled self centered man children

Late 90s to early 2000s never had anything like this at LSU.

We kinda just went to school, minded our business, and everything was fine.

The Daily Reveille has a desire to drive content as opposed to simply providing it.

As a student currently at LSU... this is the best line of them all.
The paper has almost become a joke between most students. Yes, there are great articles here and there, but for the most part it falls on ears that are tired of hearing the same speech over and over again.

College students are just as brainwashed as military members. In fact, just about everyone under the age of 25 is brainwashed.

Here we are with the monolithic grouping of people.

I've never been brainwashed, and certainly don't drink the 'Murica cool-aid. I can think for myself. Always have and always will.

Good thing I'm older than 25, too. Barely escaped that cut-off point.

Guy pretty much nails it. And I say that as someone who strongly opposed Trump (and Hillary, to be fair). The rhetoric has gotten insane

I find it ironic that he is accusing the paper of not allowing for diversity of thought, yet consistently attacks them because of specific articles that do not match his political opinions.

What?

Requesting the paper and its columnists to provide neutral or conservative stances as opposed to a vast majority of left-leaning propaganda contrasted against the context of my piece is not ironic.

quote:

He cites two pieces to show how the paper is left leaning, while going on about lack of empirical evidence for an opinion held about voters in the recent election. I hate to break it to you, but his sample size makes his basis feel a bit annecdotal.

There's other issues to consider when submitting a piece. Spacing and word length among them. I elected to go with quality over quantity. Do your own research on the paper and draw your own conclusions. Trust me, you won't arrive at the opinion that it's a neutral paper.

If you have something to say then awesome, if you're just saying "frick liberals" or "frick conservatives" then you don't have anything to say.

Neither of those were said. Rather, both should be included.

The first time I read her article, that hypocrisy just struck me. Needless to say, that was my favorite part, too.

make the State's flagship paper more balanced; there are 30,000 students at LSU, and they aren't all extreme liberals.

I would say of the 30,000 less than 10,000 have the same liberal agenda that the Reveille pushes. They rarely publish anything relevant to current events that isn't extremely left biased. I'm not sure how much it costs to fund that newspaper, but I'm sure LSU could find a better use for that money. I occasionally pick up a copy for a good laugh at some of the articles
