Reiterate the expectations and let them know if they can't fulfil the expectations or they're just not happy with what we need from them to let me know, and I would be more than happy to assist them with finding a place where they could be happy and successful.

I've said that about a million times it feels like.

I think millenials have the ability to be much more efficient than baby boomers. The days of pen and paper and gentlemans handshakes are fading. Large margin business deals are harder to come by.

Price shopping is so easy. I can understand baby boomers getting frustrated with millenials, but the old days are long gone. Now, it's "I can sell you x product for y dollars" (but so can everyone else). Margins are cheaper, so you're selling value.. something millenials haven't really been trained to do.

"Never mind, I'll do it myself."

If they're truly an underling, they'll spend the rest of the day and a good time after scared as shite.

If they aren't scared, then they didn't understand what they did wrong, and you should fire them anyway.

I told an employee:

"It's a fairly simple task. If you are unable to perform it to the acceptable standard, I'm sure I can find someone else who can."

It's something he really didn't want to do so he was trying to make it more complicated than it actually was. He went over my head and complained to my boss, also threatened to go to HR. I, in turn, received some coaching on how to handle certain employees.

Whiny bastard is 40 years old.

My favorite line:

“Did you really think that was a smart/good/wise thing to do?”

There’s no good answer.

“Step inside my office, shut the door.”

Nothing good happens to an underlying after that sentence is uttered.

Kinda similar to what made my assistant manager nearly crap himself when he went overboard...

I looked up at the secretary, told her, "time for you to go to lunch...and lock the door behind you".

Soon as the door was shut behind her I didn't even look up, just called the assistant manager by name and motioned to a chair at my desk. After work that day when all else had left he came over and said; "Next time just take me out back and beat my arse, it'll hurt less".
