Keep the truck and loads til you get the money you are owed.

I would think truckers carry a lot of cash since they're eating most of their meals at diners and truck stops.

Major trucking company shut down & turned off fuel cards, drivers are stranded all over the country.

They posted $1B of cargo moved just 4 years ago...

Just in time for the busiest time of year for shipping

I think its safe to conclude their upper management was pretty bad.

Happens often unfortunately... (drivers stranded when employer folds or doesnt pay their fuel card bill).

Shortage of drivers here in the DJ Basin.

Nah baw - holiday rush is over. 90% of the goods are at warehouses and being put in transit in stores or to homes. October and November is the busiest for dry vans, then comes the slowdown until March.

Interesting stuff there.
I wish the drivers the best. Good chance people will chip in to get them home.
I can picture others using this sob story in their pity scam. Ask to see their CDL and medical card.

What kind of freight are we talking about?

The company has no liability to get the drivers home, but the drivers are responsible for the freight in their trailer and the equipment to the company.
frick that. My load would stay parked until they settled up with me.

there are some crazy stories about the time Braniff went out the first time, leaving people and planes all over the world, know a few of the people that were involved

It has to be Managment malfeasance to go broke as a trucking company in this economy. There’s lot of freight out there to move.

Upper management was corrupt. From LINK
quote:
Celadon's former president and chief operating officer, William Meek, 39, and its former chief financial officer, Bobby Lee Peavler, 40, were indicted on conspiracy and other charges. They knew the value of a substantial portion of Celadon's trucks had declined and that many trucks had serious mechanical issues that made them unattractive to drivers, according to the indictment.
Earlier this year, Celadon agreed to pay $42.2 million to settle securities fraud allegations stemming from falsely reporting profits and assets.

Yeah, I have a buddy that drives for Celadon but he's good for cash - he owns his truck and was hired on there as an owner-op. As soon as the fuel card was turned off he dropped the trailer off at their terminal and went home. Decided to take the next few weeks off and start again with a new company after the new year.
The company drivers are the ones that are left stranded. Poor bastards. A lot of those drivers are rookies - Celadon hires and trains newbies and has a pretty high turnover rate. They weren't around the last time a larger carrier went under and left their drivers all over the country. Arrow flatbed. They had something like a thousand drivers and their management all went to prison.
