The Union was supposed to be voluntary, if a state wanted to leave it should have been allowed. The South attempted to do so.
Sounds as though you are admitting that, much like Communism, you can vote your way in but you have to shoot your way out.

It’s a friendly reminder that “war crimes” are justified as long as you win! I bet Hitler and Sherm are cracking some cold ones in Hell talking about war stories.

To think of all the death and destruction that was caused by aristocratic Confederate landholders and aristocrats who couldn’t willingly let go of their slave economy. Sad.
You really believe this fairy tale, huh?

I’d like to think they’d be smarter than that.

Some of you are probably already familiar with this book because I heard about it in this forum but for some perspective from the South's point of view check out "The South Was Right " by James Ronald Kennedy and Walter Donald Kennedy.
Before the teeth grinders unload, I'm not asserting whether they're right or wrong, it's just a suggested read to anyone who may be interested. If not feel free to ignore it

By that logic LeMay, Spaatz, the crew of the Enola Gay, and the crews of all the B-17s and B-29s that bombed Germany and Japan are right there with them.

Sherman's "job" was not only as the designated sadistic "Punisher" of the South, but also to destroy and vandalize as much olde world architecture and infrastructure possible.

“War is hell”. Sorry your side got their shite pushed in. That tends to happen when you depend on generals like joseph e johnston and hood.

Statements like these show you have absolutely zero comprehension of history or social sciences. In the 1860's, your average Southerner would have been hundreds of miles away from the nearest federal building or installation. The United States as a centralized entity didn't exist in the minds of 99% of the population. You were a Virginian, a South Carolinian, a Georgian. So when a federal army made up of soldiers from places you've never heard of or been to descends on your homeland, is your average Southerner supposed to fight with the foreign hordes or defend his own
Well said

One can simultaneously recognize the evils of slavery and also realize that the Union victory was the primary factor in the death of the American republic and the reason why our current federal government is a centralized leviathan which seeks to control and regulate every facet of our lives.
Preach!

Yes because nothing says limited government like supporting a faction who wants to deny a political unit the right to freely leave a political union by democratic means.
You didn’t finish your sentence. Freely leave a political union by democratic means TO UPHOLD THE INSTITUTION OF SLAVERY.
If it was actually democratic, the blacks would be allowed to vote. Only land owning whites were allowed to vote which is the way fake libertarian lost cause cucks like yourself seem to prefer.

Almost every acre that Sherman set foot on was burned to the ground. That was what these poor South Carolinians fought for. South Carolina was absolutely destroyed by that man and his army.
South Carolina started a war that resulted in the deaths of something like 3% of the population of the United States.
Every signer of the SC Ordinance of Secession is lucky they weren't dragged out into the middle of Charleston and executed.

And let’s not forget that the South was only against federal overreach when it went against their interests. They were more than happy to use the power of the federal government to intrude on state sovereignty when it came to catching runaway slaves.

So the Constitution isn't valid? Only white landowners ratified that. You're parroting the same language the social justice crowd uses to excuse destroying the philosophical foundations of this country. Who's the cuck?

I read some of it. It gives some views from the side of the South. It isn't so cut and dry that one side started the war and the other was blameless.
