Yea but I don't want to be slinging personal pictures all over the Internet. That one was sent to my by a friend who is working back there.

It would be very beneficial to everyone if you didn't go just to see pumps running. The road is in bad shape and there's a lot going on. I'm sure there will be video coverage on the news, and that'd be the place to see it.

I promise it will be less than spectacular to see and not worth the drive.

I have more pics I can put if someone will let me know how to upload pics. I know I should already know how to do this but I've never tried.

Go to tinypic.com or imgur.com

Upload and then copy link for each picture in reply ... use the img button to the right (on here, this website) and paste the link.

Got any more pictures of the pumping? Can the public go see it (by public I mean myself

Hopefully everyone stays away. They're still setting up a couple more pumps and hauling pipe.

Plus there's really nothing to see other than the pic that was posted

I emailed the pics, I'm having trouble uploading. I'll try to fool it with it more later. It's on Iberville parish fb page.

I'm not sure what's going on back there at the moment. I'm washing clothes and cleaning my house. I have to go back to work tomorrow after missing a week so I've gotta get my arse back in that mode.

I'm sure they're in good shape. Everyone at the back of ridge was actually in good shape yesterday.

This is my friends house on the spanish lake side of Bluff. He's been fighting like a mad man for a week now to keep water out. It's actually higher than it is in these pics. Every inch matters to him, so this is great news!!

no offense to your friend, and i do feel for him, i really do, but i've never understood why people built IN spanish lake to begin with...

that being said, i really hope they make it thru unscathed...

Now the situation is reversed. With the water higher on the Spanish Lake side and lower on the Manchac side, they want to make a 'controlled cut' into Alligator Bayou Road. Matassa hasn't heard of erosion? A talk with the Corps of Engineers seems to be in order. If this goes wrong it will be a man-made flood and open the parish up to lawsuits. First post.

Everything along Bayou Manchac. Airline at Manchac. Old Jefferson at Manchac. All the subdivisions that feed into Manchac. You remember the worries when the dam at Percy Quinn almost failed a couple of years back?

That won't happen. Spanish lake can't increase the level in manchac above its own level, which is not enough to flood that side.

Screwing the cut up is going to flood out bluff swamp when BR gets 8" of rain and they have nothing to keep all of it from going into Spanish lake.

The cut won't flood those places. Manchac will never get higher than Spanish lake, erosion or no erosion. Spanish lake is at 13 ft, so when they cut, worst case is manchac gets to 13 ft.

I don't think the gauge near Spanish Lake is based on sea level, but I see your point. It still wouldn't hurt to have a hydrologist make the decision instead of Kenny and his brother-in-law T-Bob and his backhoe.
