Can you get better deals from a local butcher? Probably. Omaha steaks dogmeat? Only to those that burn their steaks into tire rubber because they don't know how to properly reverse-sear. I got a pack of the reserve fillet mignons when they were on sale and they were great.

I admittedly haven't tried all their offerings, but the couple times someone has bought me something from Omaha I felt it was noticeably inferior to regular USDA choice I can get at nearly any half decent grocer, much less Whole Foods/Costco/local butcher.

I buy from the van that goes to the college apartments. 50 steaKS for $80. Great deal

Prob as likely to get a good steak from him as Omaha. Find a good local butcher as others have suggested.

I try to buy something from there every week or so. Great store that's close to the house. Would like to see them stay. Their sausage is the best I've found.

Any truth to the meme that they hound you incessantly to reorder, and stopping it is harder than cancelling cable service?

But they are 5 oz. steaks. That's $40 a pound.

Woof. I stand corrected. Bad and expensive, great combo.

I have a friend in Omaha. Whenever we bet it's usually Omaha Steaks if he loses and boudin if I lose. The Omaha Steaks are not great. At all...

Depends on what you typically spend on steaks.

This right here. It makes a great gift for the chap that buys shoe sole sirloins at Albertson's. But if you like a good steak, you will be disappointed. They are frozen. Nuff said.

My grandma used to ship an Omaha steaks gift thing in a styrofoam chest every Christmas to the wife and me. We tried it once. It was not good. We threw away every Omaha shipment after that. Grandma's dead now, deader than a door nail, so we don't get them anymore.

Not good at all.
I feel bad for those who live in an area that wouldn't even be able to get a better steak from at least your grocery store

Agree 100%. Received some as a gift once and dogs ate every one. It's terrible, I would eat a shitty double cheeseburger from McDonald's before an Omaha steak.

Some of you are such drama queens. I got some for a gift and they weren't great quality but I just made things like fajitas and pad thai with them. Giving them to the dog is so dramatic.
