This may be less ridiculous than it seems. I'm not an expert on the subject but if all the surgery does is change what is between your legs then it has zero impact on your lung capacity, muscle development, endurance, etc.

Why even have separate classifications for the sexes? Just get rid of the women's category and make everyone compete in the same event, regardless of sex.

Well, I mean, every year, MULTIPLE high school boys run faster miles than the world record for women. A record set in the fricking 90s!
So, yeah, you can't just be some schmo off his sofa, but, over time, some "women's" records are going to fall never to be toppled by an actual female again.
