I know a homeschool kid who got into a decent college recently. His mother essentially manufactured a transcript out of thin air, and I understand this is fairly common. I imagine colleges give an actual brick and mortar school even less scrutiny.

His dad's a doctor, he probably is fairly book smart and scored half way decently on his test scores. Just because you are a dumbass in life doesn't mean you are dumb. Decent test scores, some help from pops, and you are likely good to go to Ole Miss.

100%
I knew lots of smart guys that dicked around in school so they had weak GPAs, but had solid test scores. Ole Miss really only cares about completed credits and test scores.

Dude's a dumbass. He flunked out of Country Day Academy in Ft. Worth (a good school) and had to finish at a Christian boarding school in San Marcos that is known to just pass kids.

Isn’t their fault tho, State of Mississippi requires both schools to take stupid low ACT scores so so many people fail out after a year.

I’m sure it is related to similar laws in West Virginia requiring pretty much anyone with a pulse from WV to be accepted at WVU since it is the big state school.
Horrible admissions policies have gotten the blame for why no one wanted WVU in their conference.
